Joining a Boxing Gym

Joining a boxing gym is easy, most are pay monthly vs signing a contract. This is great if you don't want to commit to going to a gym every month. Boxing is a great way to lose weight if you're finding for something more fascinating to do rather than resistance training or jogging on the treadmill like a hamster. Yes, some boxing gyms will have you go through the aforementioned routines, but in between your warm up and cool down process - it's just you against a punching bag and a trainer. Are you stressed out? Well, I have news for you, boxing is an perfect way to comfort stress!

You can get started by buying the below equipment:

Sport News

Boxing Gloves - These will cost you about -20 a pair, it all depends on the brand. However, I was told that Everlast is the best pair you can get according to my instructor who has about 17 years of experience.

Wraps - I would recommend buying these at the gym if you can, they should be able to find the right size for you. My first mistake was buying them at the store and I ended up getting wraps that were too small for me. Wraps will cost you about a pair.

Gym Clothes - This one is a no brainer. You can wear typical gym clothes, but I would recommend wearing light gym clothes such as shorts and a sleeveless shirt. This will originate less resistance when you're fascinating about on the ring. Oh yeah, there's a lot of movement involved in boxing! - it's a great cardio workout.

Jump Rope - Believe it or not jump roping is paramount to your training for boxing. It improves your stamina, helps improve your muscles, and it teaches you how to be light on your feet.

Now that you have the equipment, it is time to go to the front desk at your local boxing gym and sign up. Once you start, they will have you jump rope for about 20 minutes for the warm up process. They will then have you shadow box in front of a mirror (this loosens you up and helps you institution your stance and body movement), then you will get one-on-one time with the trainer. Sometimes your instructor might be busy so you might have to occupy your time by punching one of the heavy bags, then you can do speed bags which helps you with repetitive with you make consistent punches. Depending on the boxing gym, they will have you do a cool down process such as running around the building.

Many gyms have a principles of how they train. Lights settle when to start and stop each workout at the gym. These lights are similar to traffic lights so green is start, yellow is slow down, red is stop.

If you don't think boxing is for you, no sweat (and no pun intended), you can try an additional one sport that is less intense or perhaps you can get started with a home boxing workout program?
